Dubai Cares kicks off its Back to School edition of Volunteer Emirates

Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, launched its “Back to School” edition of Volunteer Emirates in support of children in Jordan who are affected by the Syrian crisis. The first day of the initiative, which is taking place between June 17 and 22 at Al Boom Tourist Village, witnessed the participation of 500 volunteers from the UAE community who came together to pack school kits that will be distributed on 50,000 children ahead of the beginning of the new school year. Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares kicked off the initiative and joined the volunteers in packing the school kits. More than 3,000 volunteers are expected to participate in the Union Coop-sponsored initiative.
 According to a 2016 UNHCR report, Jordan currently hosts 633,644 officially registered Syrian refugees of which 32% (approximately 201,600) are school aged children and youth. It is estimated that 40% - more than 90,000 of these children are out of school. In Za’atari camp of 79,138 refugees, there are about 30,000 school-aged children; one third of them are out of school. In Azraq, another refugee camp in the north of Jordan, 43% of school-aged children are out of school. However, 85% of Syrian refugee children in Jordan live in host communities scattered around the kingdom but with the highest density in the north. In host communities, the numbers are slightly lower than camps, where about 38% of school-aged refugees are out of school.

Commenting on the latest edition of Volunteer Emirates which is line with the UAE's Year of Giving 2017, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, said: “We are both overwhelmed and humbled by the turnout and commitment demonstrated by Dubai Cares' volunteers who continue to show selflessness in donating their time and energy towards supporting others in need. The team at Dubai Cares, alongside a group of committed and passionate volunteers, have ensured a smooth and seamless process of properly packing the school bags to ensure that every child received the exact school essentials he/she needs, as well as placing them in boxes, ready to be shipped to children in Jordan who are affected by the Syrian crisis. I would also like to once again thank Union Coop for making this initiative possible.”

Nikhil Sayani, one of the participating volunteers said: “For me, supporting refugee children is not something exceptional, it’s something that we have to do and I am very proud to join Dubai Cares and to see today’s intense humane spirit among the UAE community. Providing school kits to refugee children is a powerful tool to help build resilient people and peaceful communities.”

Dubai Cares’ has partnered with ‘Save the Children’ for the distribution of the school kits among 50,000 children in Jordan affected by the Syrian crisis.

Union Coop Launches Fruit Initiative

Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, has launched a special initiative titled “Free Fruit for Children”, a first of its kind initiative in the Middle East that aims to offer a fresh fruit and vegetables meal to children visiting the coop with their families.

Commenting on this, Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop, said: “The new initiative comes in line with the Year of Giving designated by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as the real giving lies in making families and children happy.”

“Our goal is to present innovative and non-conventional ideas to instill the culture of healthy eating in future generations, and support the efforts of stakeholders to spread awareness around healthy eating and public health,” he added, noting that children visiting the coop will get their healthy meals free of charge.

Al Bastaki highlighted that the initiative was inaugurated in Mirdif branch, and it will be extended to all other branches soon, to cover the widest audience possible.
The initiative of “Free Fruit for Children” was an idea by mohammed saber tawfic senior card officer - marketing section – happiness& marketing department.

Union Coop Organizes a Series of Events on Zayed Humanitarian Work Day

Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, has launched a series of charity initiatives on the occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day. To continue the approach vision of the nation’s founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop, said: “This year, the Coop has organized a total of four initiatives on this monumental day, aiming at reaching all community segments. The initiatives entail distributing 500AED Afdhal cards and baskets gift on 100 families in need. The families will be selected from the database of Beit Al Khair Society beneficiaries. The initiatives will also include a blood donation, a group “Iftar” for coop’s employees, and awareness religious lectures at the coop’s accommodations.”

Al Bastaki highlighted that the initiatives kicked off this week, and the Islamic lectures conducted in collaboration with the Islamic Information Center of Dar Al Ber Society, has resulted in rich discussions and attractive explanation of the true values of Islam. It is worth mentioning that two Union Coop employees embraced Islam at these lectures.

The Union Coop Blood donation has launched on June 13th and to be repeated on 21st at Barsha Mall, and 15th and 22nd at Etihad Mall. Al Bastaki invited everyone to take part in the initiative, especially that it is open for public participation. He also encouraged all Union Coop employees to participate.

Union Coop Present “Stop! Stay Safe” Initiative

Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, has witnessed the launch of an awareness campaign on the dangers of fireworks, titled “stop! Stay Safe”. The initiative is organized by the Explosive Security Department at the General Department of Organizations Protective Security and Emergency in Dubai Police. The coop was recognized at the launch ceremony for its support of this initiative and other initiatives by Dubai Police.
The launch was attended by HE Brigadier Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Organizations Protective Security and Emergency (OPSE), and Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop, and other officers.
Union Coop is a strategic partner of Dubai Police in various security focused programs and initiatives, that represent mutual interest for the two parties.

Union Coop Organizes Quench your Thirst Campaign

Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, organized ‘Quench your Thirst’ campaign in collaboration with Alnokhba Model School. Held as part of the initiatives of the Year of Giving the campaign aims to distribute water and juices to laborers in construction sites throughout Dubai.

Union Coop Organizes Medical Day On World Hypertension Day

On World Hypertension Day, Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, organized a free medical day in collaboration with "Amala" Medical Center. The medical day included free checkups and health consultations for around 300 Union Coop employees and staff members.
The event reflects the Coop’s commitment to society’s health and well-being, and comes in line with its vision to avail higher quality of life to its employees, and elevate health care awareness among them.

Union Coop Sponsors Local Programmer Initiative

H.E. Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai, Chairman of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University’s (HBMSU) Board of Governors, and Chairman of the Emirates Talent Association; and HE Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Union Coop; attended the graduation ceremony for the Local Programmer Initiative. The program comes as a result of cooperation between Emirates Talent Association, Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University, and Microsoft. Held at Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University Campus, the program is sponsored by Union Coop, the UAE largest cooperative.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al Mu'alla, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Education.; members of Emirates Talent Association; Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop; key academic figures, and relatives of graduates.
96 graduates were honored in recognition for their success at qualifying to the Hackathon competition that will undergo meticulous assessment by a panel of international IT experts. The championship will drive the development of local competencies in IT domain.

Union Coop Supports “my Happiness in my Safety” Workshop

Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, has extended support to the “My Happiness in My Safety” workshop, organized by the Community Development Authority in Dubai - Child Protection Center. The workshop aimed at achieving customer happiness, and targeted children and their families. The sponsorship comes in line with the Coop’s commitment to supporting social initiatives that aim to spread happiness & knowledge in the society.
During the workshop, Union Coop offered giveaways and refreshments to the attendees.

Union Coop offers up to 75% discounts this Ramadan

Union Co-op, the largest cooperative in the UAE, has announced its promotional campaigns in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, with price reductions of up to 75% on over two thousand basic commodities. The Co-op highlighted that its campaigns come in line with its annual efforts to spread the spirit of good doing and ease the costs on consumers by availing high quality commodities at competitive prices, noting that it has allocated a budget of AED 30M for this noble purpose.

The announcement came in a press conference held by union coop on Wednesday May 10th at the Union coop’s head office at Al Aweer. The press conference was attended by HE Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy; Mr. Harib Mohammed bin Thani, Director of Operations division , representing the CEO of Union Coop ; Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing department ; and a number of media representatives and union coop officials .

Commenting on this, Mr. Harib Mohammed bin Thani, Director of Operations division at Union Coop, said: “This step comes in line with our quest for realizing consumer happiness, as we launch 5 promotional campaigns compared to 3 last Ramadan, representing a 76% increase in campaign number and 40% increase in budget over last year’s AED 18M. Our goal has always been to ease the financial burden on all citizens and residents of the UAE, and instill the spirit of giving and good doing in the coop.”

2000 Commodities
Bin Thani noted that “the campaigns will cover around 2000 basic Ramadan commodities, with discounts of up to 75%.” He also highlighted that the promotions will be launched before the holy month, inviting consumers to shop days ahead to avoid crowding and inconvenience on the first day of fasting, and allocate their precious time to observing the rituals of this holy season. He also revealed that the Co-op has concluded all preparations and provisioning processes and contracts, making sure all the basic needs of the consumers are available in abundance at all its outlets.

On the main commodities covered by the campaigns, Bin Thani highlighted rice, oil, poultry, meat, canned food, and various other Ramadan commodities.

“Open Baskets”
Bin Thani also noted that the success of the open basket campaign in the past years has motivated the Coop to relaunch this year. Compared to 1000 commodities last year, Bin Thani said, the open basket will include 2000 commodities this year. “This 100% increase over last year allows shoppers to select their own baskets regardless to price or number of goods, which enhances our policy in consumer happiness, especially with the diversified communities that live in Dubai, and approach the coop for their shopping needs.”

Union CO-OP & Ministry of Economy ink products fixing prices agreement

Committed to contributing meaningfully to communities where it operates, Union Co-op has singed an agreement with The Ministry of Economy to fix price of 150 commodities at cost of AED 18 million. This was announced at the press conference held at the Co-op HEADQUARTER in Al Aweer on Tuesday 10th of May.

The press conference was attended by Mr. Khalid Humaid Bin Zubian Al Falasi General Manager of Union Co-op and Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi –Director of Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy ,Mr Suhail Albastaki, director of marketing and communication manager and Media representative from media outlets .

In concluding the agreement, the Union-Coop is keen on launching socioeconomic programs and initiatives which aim at rendering services to the shoppers and the society as well as implementing attractive and high-value programs the consumer will benefit From.

Addressing the press conference, Mr. Al Falasi said, “ Besides fixing prices Union Coop launches many promo-campaign throughout the year to slash number of food and consumer items and provide best quality products at affordable prices for the shoppers”.

He pointed out in this context that Union Co-op has beefed up its promo-campaign 62% compared with last year.

According to him, this has been designed to provide many products and commodities to the consumer and boost the main objective of setting up the CO-OP, which aims at alleviating the burden on UAE citizens and expats.

AL Falasi added, as many as AED 20 Million has been spent by the Union-Coop on the promo- campaign since the beginning of the year of which AED 14 Million and 600 Thousand was set for reducing the prices.

He stressed the campaign will continue to provide the best offers and services to consumers.

On “Happy deal” Campaign , Al Falasi said that The number of Products which prices will be reduced in each “HAPPY DEAL” campaign ranged between 200 to 250 include food and non food products, with view to cater for the needs and the requirement of the consumer .

With regards to community contributions, Al Falasi said “Union Co-op has spent AED 75.3 Million last year on community contribution of which AED 23.9 Million for improving district affairs and 14.6 Million on Emiratization of jobs and 36.8 Million for supporting youth projects at Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Youth Entrepreneur Establishment.

He said, “This social role stems from the strategic objectives which had been adopted by the union cop and it’s keen to achieve.
In response to our prudent leadership to reach number one in different fields ,out of its believe of the importance in supporting the services provided to the members in the society. It has always been our endeavor to roll out a Coop that contributes effectively and positively that mobilizes all resources and provide the material in moral support to achieve the country’s vision”.

On Union Co-op projects, Al Falasi said “Union Co-op is planning to carry out new projects within the upcoming period in different districts in Dubai (Al Warqqa, Kawaneej, Jumeriah and Al Quoz , Nad Al Hamar and Al Tai ) which aim to provide highly sophisticated services to all the inhabitants in the Emirate” .

He pointed out the new project includes setting up shopping mall at al Warqqa at estimated cost of AED 540 Million consist of 2 basement and 2 storey , building shopping mall at al Kawaneej at estimated cost of 540 Million consist of 1 Basement and 2 storey , building shopping mall in Jumerah consists of 3 basements and two storey at estimated cost of 300 Million. Other projects also include construction of commercial cum administrative building in first al Quoz area, which will consist of underground cars park, ground floor for investment showrooms and a mezzanine on ground floor for investment offer offices.
He went on to say, “Licenses procedures have been completed and execution will begin”.

Al Falasi added that a shopping mall will be built at Nad al Hamar , and tender documents for the design works were prepared .
“A trade area was leased at Al Mamzar area for building a supermarket to render services to the residents “he said noting tender documents for building a warehouse at al TAI area were arranged.”

The move, according to him is part of the Union Coop to cover the strategic storage and make available the requirements of the branches to maintain the food security and stability”, he e said.

Initial plans have been mapped out for the establishment of showrooms at Nad Al Hamar parks to maximize benefit from the land planning limits on the ground with view to build a hypermarket to render the service to the residents”, he added.

On under construction projects, he said work is underway on three projects, the first is Abuhail “shopping mall’ which execution is expected to complete on the second mid-2017. The two-storey shopping mall will consist of an underground car parks, Fresh in 1 which is building of groceries in the mosques of the emirate in collaboration with Awqaf “Endowments and Minors Affairs” and eventually the Global city which is due to open next month, June.

Co-op staff warned against cyber exploitation

The Union Co-op, in collaboration with Al Ameen Service and UAE's With increasing cyber exploitation threats, Union Co-op has run a special forum to enlighten its staff against the escalating risks of online crimes, mainly on social media.
"All our employees need to be fully aware of the serious impact of cyber blackmailing to put an end to this growing negative phenomenon," said Suhail Albastaki, Union Co-op marketing and communication manager.
"Social media users should also observe the teachings, values and ethics of Islam," he added, and encouraged "all members of society to cooperate with Al Ameen Service and competent authorities to curb cybercrime."
"It is also important to educate children about the Internet and warn them against dealing with strangers," Albastaki underlined.
He said the forum enlightened the staff how to prevent cyber crimes, displaying some models of cyber practices which are criminalised by law.
Any misuse of a computer, a smart device, electronic network or system shall draw a lengthy jail term and/or a hefty fine up to Dh3 million against the violator, if found guilty.

As per the UAE Cybercrime Law No (5) issued by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in 2012, violators shall face stern penalties up to a life sentence.
A fine ranging between Dh50,000 and Dh3 million may also be slapped against violators according to the severity and seriousness of the cybercrime.
"Cyber crimes are not limited to individuals or groups, but also to countries, as they include the crimes of espionage, stealing and many other crimes across borders," Albastaki underlined. "As such, this forum is very timely to fight this serious phenomenon."

Union Co-op holds ‘Mouth and Teeth Health’ educative event

      The Union Co-op, Employees Happiness unit –HR Dept., in collaboration with GMC Dental Specialty Center, has recently held an event entitled ‘Mouth & Teeth Health’ at the staff accommodations. During the event, the 300 co-op employees were offered medical counseling and free mouth & teeth tests.

      This educational event reflects the keenness of union cooperative society on the health and security of the community and echoes its vision to ensure superior quality of life and sustainable environment for the employees, and raise the health awareness level and familiarize with the basic information about health care.

      Ahmad Bin Kenaid, Human Resources Dept. Manager, said: “The Union Co-op is keen on moving ahead with its health awareness-raising program among community members, taking care of its employees in order to increase health values to establish communal culture capable of generalizing such health habits. The Union Co-op has organized a series of workshops and health events in partnership with health institutions aimed at educating its employees as regards perpetuating healthy behaviors and sound practices to protect against all types of diseases”.
       “With the valuable support of GMC Dental Specialty Center; our strategic partner and advocate of health and educational campaigns, the Union Co-op provided employees with many health & educational tips and guidance to ensure good health of mouth and teeth using the latest medical systems. the counseling and testing for free, this event comes as part of the strategy and programs of the Union Co-op management as regards occupational health and safety 2016 in order to promote the concept and culture of the health at workplaces” he added.

"Union Coop" holds 190 interviews of work, which have resulted in appointing 135 citizens

  Mr.Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid, Manager of Human Resources Department in Union Coop Society indicated the procedure of about 190 work interviews with citizens during the days opened for employment, which were organized by the Society in the current year, referring that it they have resulted in appointing about 135 citizens in different departments of Society. These releases came in the margin of "Union's Day of employment 4", which has been recently held in "Mall Union" in Dubai.

Bin Kenaid said "Since the beginning of the current year the Society has organized 4 days which were opened for employment, so as to polarize emirate experiences to join team work of Society, assuring that organization of such initiatives comes within the strategic aims of Society, which seeks to support and employ the citizen human resources, attract and polarize them to work therein in different jobs available for citizens.

He referred "that the Open Day of Employment opened the door to present the employment applications to the citizens of Country to fill in the job of Cashier for the morning and evening periods, customer service coordinator and data entry, referring that the Society presents different training programs , which help the citizens enrich their experiences, and support their skills, suitable to different fields".

Bin Kenaid announced continuity of opening the employment door to about 60 jobs for cashier for the citizens of country, because of increasing acceptance of jobs in Society, since it provides many job advantages and attractions, indicating that the citizens may apply to the available jobs through the website of Society www.ucs.ae, or call free toll 8008889, or pay a visit to head office of the Society at Al Ouwayer, Dubai.

Bin Kenaid said "Union Day of Employment confirmed its effectiveness in polarizing the UAE staff to join the Society and meet their needs of employees within expansion and opening new branches, and execution of many projects, which need capabilities to continue in rendering the services to individuals of society as per the highest international standards, referring that the aim of organization of the Fourth Day of Union was to polarize about 60 cashiers in morning and evening shifts, and 10 customer service coordinators, and 5 data entry.

Union Coop organizes a workshop titled Traffic Safety for 55 drivers

Union Coop organized a workshop titled :Traffic Safety" for 55 drivers belonging to it, in cooperation with the General Department of Traffic in Dubai Police, whose aim is to spread the traffic awareness and preventive procedures to minimize occurrence of traffic accidents, guarantee the safety of users of roads and public properties.

On commenting the same, Mr.Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid, Manager of Human Resources Department in Coop Union Society, stressed on the necessity to make drivers of Society's vehicles aware and enlightened about rules of driving and traffic laws and regulations, in order to promote the level of their traffic obligation, increase the traffic awareness and culture so as to maintain the spirits, and decrease the rate of deaths resulted from the accidents.
Bin Kenaid referred "that during the workshop the drivers of Society were informed about importance of role of compliance with rules of driving and traffic to avoid the traffic accidents and their serious results, which directly participates in limiting the traffic accidents and deaths resulted therefrom. He also praised the efforts exerted by the Management of Traffic Institute to provide the participants with the necessary skills in the field of safety, develop their skills in the practical applications.

Regarding topics dealt with by the workshop, on his part Bin Kenaid said : "The workshop included many main pivots, the most important of which is the rules and procedures of security and safety of vehicles, style of safe driving, types of dangerous violations, in addition to the traffic signs and signals, plus the most important reasons that have led to occurrence of accidents of trucks, including the sudden deviation, not leaving enough distance, extra speed, entrance into a main road without assuring that it is free , and burst of tires, non-compliance with road line, negligence and lack of attention, and accidents as a result of increase of due load.

He also urged the necessity of complying with the procedures of safety, necessary preventive steps related to different parts of the vehicle, enough to keep the vehicles in a good condition in order to avoid breakdowns, being cautious and attentive to maintain their safety.

Meanwhile, the Management of Traffic Institute in Dubai Police, duly represented by its acting manager Mr. Eissa Hussein Al Mutawa', offered a Certificate of Appreciation for its efforts exerted to succeed the workshop "Traffic Safety", held for the drivers of Society's vehicles, where Mr. / Omar Al Qizi, Assistant Manager of Human Resources Department, received it on behalf of the Society.

Union Coop organizes an entertaining pleasure for the "Family Forum " elder people

In application of the statement of his highness sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister (may Allah bless him) " take care of the elders as taking care of the land " and in accordance with the International Day Of Older Persons . The Union Co-operative Society as represented by the marketing and communication department, has organized an entertaining pleasure yesterday (Monday) to Dubai Mall for some elders who are enrolled and attend in Dubai Family Forum.
In this occasion, Mr. Yaqoob Al Blooshi , Union Co-operative Society's Fresh Food purchasing manager, stated " This entertaining pleasure has launched as a continues special social role for the elder persons through providing best services, social care, initiatives, activities and various celebrations; in addition to encouraging the general and private establishments to create and innovate unique services and to be engaged with the social work.

He added, " Union Co-operative Society organized three entertaining picnics included 90 elder person previously. He assure that these activities and celebrations will be continued as the organization plans to launch a tour that will target the land and maritime areas during the upcoming months; because it has faith in the importance of taking care of this first generation that has exerted a great effort and sacrificed with the leadership to build and establish a modern state within love and respect to be on a par with the advanced countries in all tracks.
Mr. Imad Rashid, Media section manager, stated that " these activities are reflection of the organization leading role at various levels and its keen to strengthen the social responsibilities and implementing the human values in the society. He added " the country and its people can never forget the efforts and the sacrifices that these elder persons offered before so we provide them with what the decent life require and need within their different health status. He pointed out that taking care of the elder persons is the responsibility of all people as it is an integral part of the social infrastructure, culture and religious values that is inherited to the UAE people .
Sheikha Abrahim, a social worker in the Family Forum, thanked the Union Co-operative Society for their continues kind initiatives to the elder persons and for its efforts and keen to full their hearts with pleasure and happiness. She pointed out that this entertaining pleasure was fabulous and was a good reason for changing their daily routine actions through the family atmosphere and the various activities in the tour.
in the same context, the elder persons pointed out that they are always waiting for the organization's unique initiatives that contributes in instilling the good values among UAE nation; as it always causes happiness, love and respect. They also thanked the organizers for their good welcoming and organization.
The celebration included a luncheon and a tour in Dubai Mall in addition to distributing gifts to the elder people. This took place with the participation of Mr. Yaqoob Al Blooshi

Union Coop Organizes 5 Sport Events with 800 Participants of Employees

5 October 2015:

Among activities of Employee Satisfaction Unit, the UCS, represented by the HR Department, organizes 5 sport events to be launched today “Monday” and will last until 22 October, in which 800 employees will participate with the aim of engraving health and sport values and attitudes in employees in order to keep them healthy.

Mr. Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid, the manager of HR Department in UCS, has stated that: “Those sport events include 5 sports; football, basketball, Volleyball, in addition to Table Tennis and Cricket. Moreover, he mentioned that all sports are available for men. On the other hand, women can participate in only three sports; Volleyball, Basketball and Table Tennis”.

Additionally, Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid has said that: “Number of the teams participating in the sport events is about 16 teams from all UCS departments and branches”. He further explained that the purpose behind such activities is enhancing the one-team spirit between employees and encouraging communication and interaction between them, apart from spreading the cooperation and competition spirit, as well as boosting the culture and importance of sport in daily life, and its positive aspects which are reflected on their health”.

Furthermore, Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid has declared that: “the UCS will hold an honoring ceremony for winning teams at the end of sporting events in order to give them prizes and medals, and have dinner, pointing out that such event reflects the Society’s keenness to afford employees recreational options, and encourage them to make sport an integral part of their culture and sound habits.

" Union Coop organizes a recreational round for 48 Employees under slogan "Union … My Family" in Eid

The Employees Pleasing Unit in Human Resources Department in Union Cooperation Society, organized a recreational round for 48 employees of different branches under slogan 'Union … My Family" to Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, and Arabian Peninsula Animals Centre during the holiday of the Blessed Eid Al Adha. This was made within the framework of efforts exerted by the Society to increase the indicator of job satisfaction, which reached more than 90 %, and increase giving of employees, and brightness in their scope of work.

On this occasion, Ahmad Salem Khamis Bin Kenaid , Manager of Human Resources Department in Society said "This round is deemed to be the first of its kind and not the last one, referring that creation of Employees Pleasing Unit on the part of Management of Society assures its continuity and arduous efforts to adopt the most up-to-date methods, which aims at creating a work encouraging environment by organizing different events and activities, such as recreational rounds for the employees and honoring their distinguished ones, visiting their patients, establishing their sport championships … etc., because it believes that the relation between the Society and its employees is mutual friendly relation, assuring that immediately after proposing the idea of recreational round to the Top Management, the proposal was quickly approved".

He added "that the round was not only recreational, but also cultural, implying perfumed historical fragrances pf UAE habits and traditions, whereas the employees viewed the most remarkable UAE inheritances, nature of life in which the fathers and grandfathers were living before, and the animals and plants that grow in the Country and Arabian Peninsula.

Bin Kaneed referred "that the Employees Pleasing Unit has provided all means of rest, enjoyment and recreation to the employees participating in the round, where it provided them with entrance tickets free of charge to the Arabian Peninsula Animals Centre, Islamic Plants Museum, Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club, in addition to distribution of purchase slips to the employees wining in miscellaneous competitions that took place during the round, plus lunch meal to all participants.

Further, he thanked the organizers of the recreational round for their good organization, provision of all requirements to make the round successful and achieve its aims. He also invited all employees, who have ideas and proposals that help develop the work of Employees Pleasing Unit to report the same to the Human Resources Department to study how to apply the same in reality, so as to push up the services rendered by the Unit.

In the margin of exchanging Eid congratulations with the employees on occasion of advent of the Blessed Eid Al Adha, Mr. / Rashid Al Harmoudi, the Regional Manager of Operations Sector in Union Cooperation Society, commented by saying "We are pleased to organize recreational rounds to help create the spirit of harmonized and beloved team work, paving the way before them to spend joyful social times, far from the official work environment, indicating that the employees of Union Cooperation Society are one family, whether administrators or employees, and that each one of them is responsible in his / her site, and should participate in success and achievement of the desired objectives of Society".

On the other hand, the employees expressed their admiration of the recreational and tourist places provided to them by the Employees Pleasing Unit, stressing at the same time on the constructive and big cooperation expressed by the employees responsible for organization of round, where they have provided all means of success and were interested in achieving its recreational and social aims.

They said "that the recreational round was very wonderful, and let us view many beautiful and interesting issues; and we thank the Management of Society for this great initiative, whereas the slogan of round "Union … My Family" is not only a slogan, but also a real and fact, adding that the round broke the work routine, increased the abilities with positive energy to exert more and more efforts to make the work successful.

UNION COOP Welcome Dubai Municipality Delegation

In the framework of memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties, Mr. Emad Rashed director of media department in Union Coop welcomed a delegate from Dubai municipality in the headquarter in Aweer branch. The delegate was represented by Mrs. Zahra Ibrahim Al Baloshy; a senior officer in abattoirs section and Dr. Zohal Ahmed Al Awad; a veterinary health inspection officer in public health services department. The visit came in the framework of activating the campaign of “My family's health is in the safety of my sacrificial lamb” that aims to raise the awareness among society about the importance of slaughtering the sacrifice inside the abattoirs and limiting the external slaughtering which do not suit the cultural development in Dubai.

Mr. Emad Rashed director of media department emphasized, “The society is keen on activating awareness and cultural programs as well as contributing in maintaining health and public safety and raising community health awareness to raise the standard of living and eliminate negative phenomena and practices in the society. Referring that the society will distribute brochures and posters related to this campaign among all the branches in order to raise awareness between the employees and visitors about the importance of slaughtering the sacrifice inside the abattoirs.”

In addition, at the level of cooperation and memorandum of understanding signed with the society, director of media department in Union Coop stated “cooperation and the signed memorandum between the two parties aims to promote requirements, sustainability concepts and the social responsibility in Emirate of Dubai. He added that the society contributes and organizes many social initiatives and activities that aims to protect the environment and applying the best practices and international standards to make Dubai number one in all fields.”

Finally, at the end of the visit, the delegation expressed their gratitude to Union Coop for their warm welcoming and cooperation in spreading the sound practices in society and their rapid response to the social initiatives that establish the foundation of public health in Dubai.

Moreover, the campaign “My family's health is in the safety of my sacrificial lamb” includes many awareness and useful information and goals that help in spreading the positives of slaughtering the sacrifice inside the abattoirs. The brochure, that will be distributed, will indicate conditions of the sacrifice and benefits of slaughtering inside the abattoirs as well as the risks resulting from external slaughtering. The campaign comes within Dubai municipality vision to build a distinctive city that has sustainability of comfort living and basic elements of success.

"Cooperative Union" and "Dubai Civil Defense execute a successful unreal evacuation

On Sunday, 7th September, the Cooperative Union Society executed a successful practical drill to fight a fire and evacuate, in branch of Jumeirah, in cooperation with General Department of Civil Defense in Dubai, where this comes in framework of interest of the Society in safety of souls and properties, promote the efficiency, readiness, and qualification of employees therein through training, enlightenment and awareness.

In a comment on the successful evacuation operation, Mr. / Suhail Al Bastaki, Manager of Marketing & Communication Department said "The Society gives the aspects of security and safety an extreme care, due to its importance in keeping the safety of employees therein, and its haunters; and it does not slacken in supporting the plans of Crises Department, providing the employees with necessary experiences by performing the practical drills, theoretical lectures to deal with such emergencies, to boost the chances of safety during catastrophes, promote the level of readiness of all employees; and it establishes the best strategic plans to manage the crises and risks, to promote the security and safety requirements in its branches spread in emirate of Dubai, and branches managed by it.

Training of 35 employees

Al Bastaki assured "that the Training and Development Section in Human Resources Department belonging to Society periodically organizes theoretical lectures to its employees. Where 35 employees got training during the first half of the current year, so as to spread the preventive awareness culture, apply the safety conditions at houses, vehicles and public utilities, introduce the individuals to the best methods of use of the tools applied in fire extinguishing process, making the precautions to avoid causes of fires".

On his part, Ahmed Salim Bankneed, Manager of Human Resources Department said "The Training & Development Section holds many training courses, within the scope of Policy of Environment , Health and Occupational Safety in the Society, where this comes to implement its plans to spread the culture of precautionary awareness, assure the conditions of protection and general safety , in addition to enriching the employees with important skills to enable them to utilize the same throughout the duration of their lives, by promoting their abilities to dispose ideally in emergency cases, and make the proper decision."

He added "This type of drills is deemed to be a chance to test the general emergency plan related to the Cooperative Union Society , its efficiency and reality by dealing with the general accidents, so as to prevent any injuries in cases of emergencies and catastrophes, referring that the Society is extremely interested in applying the best standards and practices of safety and security in all its buildings, where it gets certificate of "completion of conditions of safety and protection" in labor houses without any remarks, referring the efficiency of the plans applied to its utilities."

Bankneed expressed his thanks to the General Department of Civil Defense in Dubai and all its staff for their good cooperation, high degree of professionalism, perfection in execution of practical drill, as per the pre-established plans, and wonderful efforts exerted by the Civil Defense Department in establishing the criteria of safety and protection. He also thanked the team of rescue belonging to the Society, who participated in success of this drill with distinguished levels.

On his part, Corporal Ahmed Shiban Khamis, from Office of Planning and Analysis of Risks belonging to General Department of Civil Defense in Dubai "Operation Supervisor", explained the training scenario by the aspects that the Operations Room received a report at ten o'clock a.m., on a fire that broke out in branch of the Cooperative Union Society in Jumeirah, where the alarm sirens gave sounds, and emergency teams evacuated the building till arrival of the concerned Police Authorities and Civil Defense and the supporting authorities, who arrived within a standard time, and immediately dealt with the accident. As per scenario, about 150 employees and visitors were evacuated, and treatment was given to one case, which was supposed to have been subject to faint on accident site.

Khamis praised "the readiness and efficiency of the employees of the Society, their good conduct, control and organization on dealing with the emergency cases, indicating the high quality and distinguished drills they receive from the Training & Development Section in Society, which support keeping their lives, and those who haunt to the Society, referring that this has effectively participated in success of the drill in a distinguished and quick way."

" Union Coop" holds a workshop on memorandum of understanding of "Mohammed Bin Rashid Projects Development Establishment"

    Recently, the Cooperative Union Society held a workshop on memorandum of understanding signed with Mohammed Bin Rashid Development of Small and Medium Projects Establishment, during which a view was made to the most important points of memorandum, searching their methods of development, in addition to establishing a mechanism to achieve the desired aims, in presence of managers of the concerned departments and sections, and a number of employees.

    In a comment on the most important results concluded by the workshop, Mr. / Suhail Al Bastaki, Manager of Marketing & Communication Department said "Specialized workshops will be held to Mohammed Bin Rashid Development of Small and Medium Projects Establishment , to transfer the expertise and experiences of managers of concerned departments and sections in the field of marketing and retail, and any other fields, in which the Society can render its experiences, to effectively and really participate in achieving positive results in reality to members of Establishment, in addition to enriching them with the best international practices necessary to enter into the labor market and compete therein properly and strongly, referring that the managers of departments in the Society expressed their full readiness and desires to enrich the knowledge stock of members of Establishment with information and data that help them achieve creation and success in their work".

Al Bastaki added "Coordination will be made with Mohammed Bin Rashid Development of Small and Medium Projects Establishment, to establish a time schedule to hold these specialized workshops.

Union Coop honors 3 outstanding female employees on the occasion of Emirati Women's Day”



On 27/8/2015, Union Coop organized a ceremony coinciding with "Emirati Women's Day," which was launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak «Mother of Emirates», Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. During the ceremony she honored three distinguished women employees in recognition of their sincerity and dedication in work. To confirm the Society’s keenness to support the Emirati women, and to encourage them to achieve more achievements and dedication in various areas of work, the honoring was in the presence of a number of administration managers and staff.


On this occasion, His Excellency Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, General Manager of Union Cooperative Society, said in his speech made on his behalf by the Human Resources Department manager Mr. Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid: "our celebration of " Emirati Women's Day, which was launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak« Mother of Emirates » is a honor of the Emirati women employees working in the Society , who have made important achievements in the work, and have contributed to advancing the development in various areas of work of the Society. To confirm the important role played by Emirati women in the cultural and economic renaissance and development of the State, as a strategic partner of the man in the sustainable development system, because she passed advanced stages and made important progress in various sectors, which reflected the vision of the wise leadership”
Al Falasi added: "Our beloved country under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God protect him, and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, May Allah protect him, and their brothers their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council of the Union, rulers of the Emirates, did not left any effort to pay the most attention and care to women's issues, and to make important shifts and leaps in education, health and other sectors, which made these sectors to become a model on the global level. "


He said that the “Union Cooperative Society did not ignore the importance of empowering women in various sectors and departments, because the Society believes in potentials and vital and strategic role of woman in creativity and innovation to upgrade the services provided by the Society to the public with a view to reach the top place at the local and international level, in the field of retail. He explained that the Society is currently including about 374 Emirati employees, of whom there are about 218 Emirati women employees in different sectors and departments. Female workers ratio in the Society shows its clear policy, and the insightful look in empowering the women, and developing their capabilities and skills to be used in achieving the goals of Society that contribute to raise high the name of the UAE. "
Al Falasi presented the sincere appreciation and thanks to the sisters in the Union Cooperative Society for the efforts and brilliant ideas made by them to contribute to raising the level of services provided to the public and to develop the work system in the Society. He also thanked all employees in the Society, whether the administrators or staff for their continued efforts, to adopt the ideas and proposals that aiming to achieve new heights, and keep up with the requirements of the next stage.
For his part, Mr. Suhail Al Albastaki, Marketing and Communication dept. Manager, emphasized during the ceremony that "the role of women in any society is a key role that is contributing to the growth and renaissance of communities. She is the party who puts the first building block for the development of communities. So the poet said that « Mother is a school, if you prepared her, you will prepare a good nation ». Union Cooperative Society has never forgotten the importance of providing appropriate work environment, possibilities, material and moral support to her, in order to achieve greater achievements, and to effectively contribute to the development witnessed by the State. Our wise leadership has sought various ways to empower women in all fields, because it believes in the capabilities of women, and their importance in building, and construction of a modern state based on justice, equality, and respect.”

Al Bastaki said, "The Society has always been proactive in translating the directives of the leadership. The ceremony which we are holding today in our headquarters is an irrefutable proof to that effect. It is considered as an emphasis on the sound methodology adopted by the Society to empower women, being careful to highlight her efforts by showing her achievements and successes, and honoring her to promote the positive spirit and to motivate her to achieve more and more achievements ".
He explained that "honoring three female employees during the ceremony of the " UAE's Women's Day " for their dedication, and sincerity in work, comes within the framework of the keenness of the Society to support the UAE women, and to encourage them to more dedication in the work, in addition to the expression of loyalty and gratitude for the vital and important role played by the woman to serve her family, and her home country, in addition to the sacrifices and the great efforts made by her to serve the community".

Al Bastaki, in his name, and in the name of all employees in the Society, congratulated and thanked the honored employees, who are: Eng. Union Coop Delegation visits patient to assure his health within “Happiness of staff!” initiative

    A delegation from the Union Cooperative Society, headed by Omar Al Gaizi, assistant  human resources department manager, visited the employee Mr. Abdul Qadir, team leader in the operations divition. The aim of the visit was to be assured on his health, as part of «Making the staff Happy» initiative launched by the senior management of the Society, in order to support and motivate its employees and establish the concept of institutional communication and to provide the appropriate work environment for innovation and excellence, and to create an atmosphere dominated by affection and intimacy between the staff.

During the visit, Omar Al Gaizi said that such humanitarian initiatives contribute to establish the sound societal values that are based on communication, mercy and promoting social solidarity. The Society is seeking, through the unit of « Making the Staff Happy! » which has recently been created, to provide services and to organize distinct events, in order to motivate the staff to achieve excellence and instill the concept of the one team spirit.

He added that one of the objectives of the « Making the Staff Happy» unit, is to provide moral and psychological support to them, for that to be positively reflected on their performance, and to improve the services provided to them. He said that the idea of establishing a unit came in line with the vision of the wise leadership to establish and encourage outstanding performance culture and to create a creative generation that is able to work accurately and perfectly in order to reach the top level.

Awareness campaign on the dangers of the fireworks for the year 2015

   The Union Cooperative Society adopts many community initiatives, and contributes to a distinctive role in the social responsibility at the state level. Moreover, in the framework of the Ministry of Interior initiative, implemented by The Security Media Department of the secretariat of the office of his highness the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior, under the slogan “live safely” to raise awareness about the many risks of the fireworks usage on lives and properties, especially to the children and adolescents. Etihad mall organized an event to support this initiative in the field of social legal liability in cooperation with Dubai Police; an awareness display was presented during the event including the objectives of the campaign, in addition hosting a number of the children’s favorite characters to present a comedy show and doing drawing workshops for the kids, in addition to the competitions and gifts.

Brigadier General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, the director of the general department of Organization Protective Security and Emergency in Dubai Police expressed his satisfaction with the great success achieved by the awareness campaign on the dangers of the fireworks for the year 2015. In addition his appreciation of the roles of all the institutions which contribute to the success of this type of initiatives, what he considered a strong indication that the ongoing campaign is proceeding steadily forward, and succeeded in achieving social interaction with the public especially through the social network sites.

On the other hand, the attendance praised such events, demanding from the society to repeat it from time to time, in view of its promotion of values and community awareness for the safety of the members of the community; they also took personal memorial photos (the selfies)

At the end of the campaign events, the sponsors and collaborators in these awareness campaigns were honored in an amazing festival hall in the Dubai Trade Center. The Brigadier General/ Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi honored the Union Cooperative Society. In addition, presented to its representative Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, marketing and communications department manager, a certificate of thanks and appreciation, and a commemorative shield and that for the society effective contribution and its outstanding role in the success of the events of the campaign for the year 2015.


Breakfast Gathering for the members of Thukher Social Club

       A continuation of the role of community performed by the Union Cooperative Society towards the older category to provide the best services and community care. On the occasion of the death anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan 19 ramadan. The Union Cooperative Society participated in the commemoration of Al Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in recognition of his role in the establishment of the humanitarian giving journey in the state, through serving a collective breakfast for the elderly members of Thukher Social Club. In addition a delegation representative of the Union Cooperative Society visited the club, is consisting of: Mr Yaqoub Al Balooshi, Fresh Purchase Department Manager, Mr. Shuaib Al Hammadi, marketing section manager, and Mr. Saleh Radi, Space Visibility Manager, in addition Mr. Bader Ibrahim Al Taher Purchase Officer and Mr. Hussain Al Bastaki on 9/7/2015, and that is within an imitative of Dubai Community Development Authority initiatives.
     
      Some social issues, and the authentic Emirati values and traditions were discussed with the elderly, which is an affirmation of t the Union Cooperative Society role in the community service, and the participation in the social development, in addition on the basis of its sense of responsibility towards the elderly category, as they represent the past and the present and they are an important part of the Emirati community fabric.

Ramadan Sports Event

Since Union Coop Higher Management has launched the Unit of Employees Contentment, Union Coop is enhancing this concept through providing various services and events to care about functional cadres. In that regard the human resources department has organized Ramadan Sporting event of football in the playgrounds under the motto of “Pleasing employees” and a number of directors of departments, sections, and employees have participated in the competing teams in the event.

Blood Donation Campaign

    In continuation of Union coop in providing societal and human services in the occasion of the honored month of Ramadan and Zaid Day for human work and within the initiative of the Media Section in the Marketing and Communication Department, Union coop has organized a campaign for blood donation under the supervision of the Public Relation Unit in the Media section in coordination with the Blood Donation Center affiliated to the Authority of Health in Dubai bearing the motto of “Store your blood in people ‘veins, you don’t know the time you need it’. This campaign took place in the commercial centers affiliated to the Union coop over two consecutive days on Tuesday corresponding to 7/7/2015 in Etihad Mall and Wednesday corresponding to 8/7/2015 in Al Barsha Mall after midnight.

   The work team hosted the donating public and provided support to them through filling in the formats of their data and offering them juice, fruits and sweets.
The Blood Center honored the UCS by handing a memorial award to Mr. Imad Rashid, Media Section manager.

In this occasion, the Media Section in the Marketing and Communication Department introduces thanks and apperception to all departments which have contributed to the success of the campaign and to all who have contributed in the campaign through their donations whether form the public, employees and the adoption of the motto of “MY BLOOD TO MY COUNTRY” in the campaign, in particular:

Iftaar Gathering

As part of the UCS caring for its functional cadres and in light of directives of the UCS Managing Director that all achievements attained by the Society are attributed to the officials who are working in the Society within a team spirit. Therefore, the UCS was keen among other effective initiatives to continue caring for its staff through shared gathering Iftaar in a family setting for all departments, sections and branches.

Mr. Rashid Mohamed Ibrahim Alharmoodi - Operation Division Manager Bur Dubai Area in his speech mentioned that such kind of initiatives made annually in a family environment through sharing one table shall have its positive effect on employees. He added that the Society is paying attention to developing the work environment and improvement thereof.

Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament and Dubai Club for the disabled organized Nad AL Sheba Ramadan championship for wheelchair basketball from 05/06/2015 to 04/07/2015

In terms of team spirits adopted always by the management of the Union Cooperative Society. The Union Cooperative Society team joined the Nad AL Sheba Ramadan championship for wheelchair basketball.

Free Medical Checkup of employees of the UCS Camps

As part of attention made to functional cadres and a kind of efficient initiative ensuing from the vision and directions of the UCS General Manager. In line with the strategy of the UCS being a lead in the field of the health services, the UCS, represented by the Human Resources Department; Employees Services Unit, has conducted free medical checkup of all employees of the UCS Campus. This has been made in cooperation with Aster Medical Center and Oman Health Insurance Co.

The medical checkup made to employees included a number of health checkups; blood sugar checkup, blood pressure checkup, body mass checkup. In addition, a team of specialists from Aster Medical Center has taken blood samples for every employee besides, checkups made and measurement of height, weight, to include them in the data of each applicant for this checkup made to groups for a period lasted for consecutive four months. This was made in the presence of Mrs. Sanaa Zaid Abdel Fattah Abu Shihab; Employees Services Executive and Mr. Khaled Al-Bawardy; Employees Services Executive.

       A year before, Media & Communication Department has launched a new initiative, aiming at spreading the spirit of one family, cooperation and caring through the celebration of several events with different occasions intended to graft motivation within UCS staff, such as “Congrats parties on annual staff anniversaries within UCS”, “Cheering events for a staff being promoted” or any other special occasions .
      Such initiatives has been embraced and enjoyed by other UCS departments, where several similar events were pleasantly organized by Dept. heads, strengthening the friendly relations among staff along with their superiors & subordinates

      Such initiatives has been launched thanks to Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Media & Communication Department Manager; who completed today one year since joining UCS team.
On this special Occasion, the Media & Communication Department arranged on Sunday, 31/08/2014, a launch party celebrating in a family atmosphere the anniversary of their Manager, Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, with the presence of Mr. Khalid Al Falasi, “General Manager” who presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to Mr. / Suhail Al Bastaki, in addition to a memorial gift, for his effective management role played within the dept. team reinforcing the spirit of one family among UCS workforce

      Mr. / Suhail Al Bastaki expressed special appreciations for Mr. Khalid Al Fslasi thanking his presence at the event, as well as the attendance of other department managers and the Media and loyalty programs staff along with a number of Training and Development Department staff.

Visiting Al Baraha Hospital

      According to the social responsibility which the Union Cooperative Society adopted, and the view of the board of directors and the general manager Mr. Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi with the importance of supporting different central fields in the Emirate, and in continuation to this distinguished role and according to our feeling of responsibility toward those fields in providing the best services and social care;
Mr. Suhail Mahmood Sultan Albastaki , Media & Communication Department Manager, and
Ms. Huda Salem, Communication & Social Service Section Manager, had made a field visit to Al Baraha Hospital and met with the medical and administrative staff. And they were welcomed by Mr. Ahmed Obeid Al Khadeem, Hospital Manager, who in his turn provided a detailed explanation about the hospital’s prominent role. In addition that he touched the coming projects of Ministry of Health.
In an inspectorate round, the Cooperative’s delegation had seen all the various sections of the hospital and the most important required developing needs. The thing that is considered as an assertion on the Cooperative’s role in society service, and participating in the social development including the health field.

“Zayed Humanitarian Day”

  On Thursday, 19th Ramadan, corresponding to 19/07/2014 at Etihad Mall, Union Cooperative Society organizes a collective Iftar, in implementation of the initiative “Zayed Humanitarian Day”, launched by Their Highnesses president and vice-president of the state, corresponding to anniversary of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah have mercy upon him, on 19 Ramadan of each year, as recognition and perpetuation of his humanitarian and social initiatives, and in general to promote community role and responsibility of organizations and individuals in the state. This Iftar will be attended and joined by entities concerned with training and rehabilitation of the disabled, such as UAE Down Syndrome Association, Dubai Handicap Center, Dubai Club for the Disabled and Al Sahara Group involving more than 120 of our sons & brothers with disability, along with the presence of a large number of Union Cooperative Society executives & staff

Goodwill ambassador for childhood, Ms. Sonia Al Hashimi, The General Manager of UAE Down Syndrome Association, appeared as a guest of honor at the event, where at the end of the event, special gifts were pleasantly distributed to the crowd along with entertainment cards from "Kiddie Ville" play area

A Campaign to increase awareness of fireworks dangers “Safety; otherwise, remorse”

On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Dubai Police, General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, & Explosives Security Department, has launched a campaign to increase awareness of fireworks dangers. The Campaign took place in Etihad Mall, sponsored by Union Cooperative Society, in order to educate children about the risks of fireworks and the potential hazardous injuries that might be caused as a result of their use of such fireworks. As a documentation of the community partnership between the police and the community, a Toll free 8008888 has been allotted for public to report on places that are selling fireworks.

The campaign was highly valued by people as a success and met high expectations among audience where it continued to late hours, wherein the audience showed positive response to the campaign events and competitions held for the public, in collaboration with SANID Volunteers. The event has included a workshop for Children "Marsam" and educative comic drama, in addition to awarding prizes to attendees given by Dubai police along with Union Cooperative Society, represented in Etihad Mall.

Campaign Guest: Instgram comic figure / Khalifa Maamari @ kloof24, who added fun, entertainment and interest to the campaign, and was honored by Mrs./ Azita Al Awadi, Etihad Mall Manager, at the end of the campaign.

Several government and private institutions ensured to celebrate the cultural heritage «haaq A Lilah night» night half of the month of Shaban, in order to maintain the habits of parents, grandparents and entrench the values of affection between members of the community.
Union Cooperative Society also contributed in the celebration of this day (haaq A Lilah) with Dubai Center of Disabled Children, welcoming 40 children along with four supervisors.
The ceremony included a number of entertainment activities and competitions for the best singing awards. Also, provided Kids snacks and sweets «Haaq Al Lilah» to children along with Prizes for young singers.

Palestinian Agricultural Program

Palestinian Business Council - Dubai organized on Tuesday, 3rd June, 2014 a marketing program for promoting Palestinian products which took place in Crowne Plaza Hotel - Sheikh Zayed Road.
The Program introduced a detailed presentation on the Palestinian agricultural & industrial sector and was attended by Dr / Ahmed Matar Al Ali “Representative of the Ministry of Economy of UAE”, who gave a brief introduction about the economic trade in general and a broad analysis of the agricultural sector in the state.
In addition, Union Cooperative Society had a distinctive presence and effective participation in the dialogue session with the representatives of the Palestinian Trade Center (Paltrade) presented by Mr. / Suhail Al Bastaki,” Media & Communication Manager” along with Mr. Yaqoob AL Blushi “ Fresh Purchase Department Manager” seeking ways of having joint cooperation between the two parties.
During the Program ,Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki was given a memorial shield on behalf of UCS Manager awarded by Mr. / Mohammed Wadah “Board Member of the Palestine Trade Center (Paltrade)” praising the efforts of UCS Board and wishing them continuous success.

Visit to Dubai Customs

The Media & Communication Department at Union Coop prearranged a visit to conduct a benchmarking process to Dubai Customs for the perspective of developing the Department process and procedures of its two sections that are “Media & Communication sections”
Based on the directions of the General Manager at Union Coop, “Mr. Khalid Al Falasi” to keep posted and bring up to dates, and to take advantage of the procedures and regulations followed in Dubai Customs, as it was the main circuit procuring all government sectors in its place in addition to being established for more than a hundred years.
Union Coop group included, Mr. Suhai AL Bastaki “Media and Communication Department Manager” a long with Mrs. Huda Salem “ Communication & Social Service Section Manager” and Mrs. Badriya Al Suwaidi “Customer Service Officer” , who were all welcomed by Mr. Saqr Bin Gharib “ Corporate Communication Department Manager along with Mrs. Maryam Al Shamsi “Government Partnership Section Manager”, Mr. Wajih Abdalaati “Media & PR Section Manager” , Mr. Khalid “Social Responsibility Section Manager” and Mrs. Jumana “ Events & Creative services Section Manager”.
During the visit, the restructuring of management, procedures and methodologies were reviewed through a detailed explanation presented by the department managers of each section at Dubai Customs. In addition, Dubai Customs Nursery has also been visited, "the first nursery in a government Sector," reviewing the methodologies followed and meeting the employees’ children who are registered at the nursery.
Towards the end of the visit, Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki expressed special thanks to Dubai customs for their efforts and for providing Union Coop with the valued opportunity to perceive the best practices. As a result of the visit, both organizations emphasized on the importance of such meetings to strengthen relations, and have opportunities to develop public interest work affairs.

       DGM, inaugurated the lunch by expressing appreciation for HR diligent effort to boost Performance and quality of service as well as praising “ Amicable lunch” initiative for its motivating and positive impact on employees ‘ teamwork spirit. Smart Shopping with Union Coop

      Students of “Fils Planet Academy “were pleasurably welcomed and hosted by Union Coop at Etihad Mall on Saturday Morning 15 Feb, 2014. As a part of having an enjoyable experience, Union Coop organized a workshop for the students under the name “Smart Shopping” were it was supervised by Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Media & Communication Manager along with Mrs. Dareen Awida , Training & Development Manager at Union Coop.

    The workshop involved some practices such as engaging the students in tours visiting Union Coop rental sections such as the bakery, fishery, and more different sections ending at the Cashiers sector.

    The workshop focused at how important is to manage your shopping list and make the savviest purchases by following up the promotional offers and ensure the freshness of the fresh products. Also on how to save time while shopping by by using the category boards & planning the things needed list as well as the perfect time for shopping.

 At the end of their visit, the students were granted with participation certificates and a word of thanks to those who organized the workshop.

    Union Cooperative Society seeks to achieve consumer satisfaction not only through the provision of consumables at the best price, but also to provide proper consumer culture by contributing to the development of education and awareness practices (Consumers of Tomorrow).

Generations Grown

“Generations Grown” is the title of the initiative that was launched by both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Environment & Water The initiative was launched by the presence of the two Minsters in collaboration with Union Cooperative Society along with Kadra Agricultural Marketing Company.

This initiative aims to raise awareness of agriculture principles and its benefits for School students and the relation to the environment as well as the preservation of natural resources from harmful practices.

As a part of its social responsibility Union Cooperative Society, represented by the “Fresh Purchase Department” pleasantly contributed in the success of the two Projects that are currently being implemented as an attempt in Ghrnata School and Al Baraa Kindergarten in Dubai. These two projects are carried out in terms of moral support and indicative guideline for the agriculture and consumption of certain types to be marketed in Union Coop

As a part of the contribution, Union Coop hypermarkets welcomed visitors of school students to recognize the types of vegetables and know how it is marketed.

      Within the framework of celebration the memory of the special day of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan accession as the President of UAE. Dubai World Hospitality Championship to launch business incubator

Dubai: Dubai World Hospitality Championship (DWHC) announced on Monday the launch of a business incubator for winners of the innovative and homemade products category of the championship’s Emirati competition.
The initiative’s aim is to develop the participation of Emiratis in the UAE hospitality sector. Neither the timing of the incubator launch nor its location have been announced.
“We are confident our proactive initiative will serve as a catalyst to profile the UAE hospitality sector as an attractive career option to Emirati nationals,” Ahmad Al Falahi, president of DWHC told reporters at a press conference.
The championship, a culinary event, covers the Emirati, international, and hospitality sector competitions, and will see international cooking teams from 12 countries, as well as Emirati based chefs and restaurants.
The incubator is expected to be launched in collaboration with Dubai SME, Aswaaq, Union Cooperative Society and Dubai Municipality. It will offer entrepreneurs services, training and mentorship.
Meanwhile, Aswaaq and Union Cooperative Society will retail the winners’ dishes that are made in the incubation centre.
Suhail Al Bastaki, media and communications manager at Union Cooperative Society, said that their produce can also be displayed in kiosks in malls. Also, winners will be registered for professional certification.
Entrepreneurs can stay at the facility for “a maximum of a year or two,” Abdul Basit Al Janahi, CEO of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment of SME Development, told Gulf News.
“If this incubation works, I think we can work with the organisers to expand it,” Al Janahi continued. He said that entrepreneurs that have not participated at the competition may join if the centre expands and has enough space.
According to Al Janahi, “between 30 and 40 per cent” of entrepreneurs that approach the establishment want to open a hospitality-related business, such as cafes and restaurants.
The hospitality sector is growing at a rate of 16.9 per cent per year, according to a statement by DWHC.
DWHC 2013 will be held from November 16 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Dubai World Hospitality Championship Announces a New Initiative to Support Aspiring Emirati Entrepreneurs

In a move to ensure the sustained participation and integration of Emirati nationals in the UAE hospitality sector, following the conclusion of the inaugural Dubai World Hospitality Championship, the organisers have announced the intention to launch a new incubation centre in collaboration with Dubai SME, Dubai Municipality , Aswaaq and Union Cooperative Society to support winners of the innovative and homemade products category of the Emirati competition.
Aiming to deliver continued professional development to Emirati aspirants in the UAE hospitality sector, the centre will provide the space, services, training tools, mentorship and other resources to members.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Hareb Al Falahi, President of DWHC, made the announcement at a press conference held on 4 November, 2013 at Meydan in the presence of Ahmed Sharif, Vice President of Dubai World Hospitality Championship, Abdul Basit Al Janahi, CEO of The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders (Dubai SME), Khalid Sharif Al Awadi. Director of Food Control Department, Dubai Municipality , Khalid Bin Gharib, Head of the Committee of Dubai Heritage and Touristic Section, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Affan Al Khouri, Executive Director, retail sector, Aswaaq Company and Suhail Al Bastaki, the Media and Communications Manager in Union Cooperative Society.
